Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 3, 2026
Text Stats ("the Extension") respects your privacy. This policy describes how the Extension handles your data.
Data Collection
The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. All text analysis is performed entirely on your device.
Data Processing
When you click the Extension icon, it:
- Reads the text you have selected (or the visible text on the page) solely within your current active tab.
- Processes that text locally in the extension popup to compute statistics (character count, word count, etc.).
- No text, statistics, or any derived data is ever sent to a server, saved to storage, or shared with any third party.
Permissions Justification
- activeTab — Grants temporary access to the currently active tab so the Extension can read text on that page. This permission is narrow; it does not grant access to all tabs or background browsing activity.
- scripting — Allows the Extension to inject a small inline script into the current tab to extract the visible text. No persistent code is installed; the script runs once and is removed.
Third-Party Services
The Extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or external services. It operates entirely offline once installed.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the change. No additional notification will be provided.
Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy, please open an issue on the extension's repository or contact the developer through the Chrome Web Store listing.
