Privacy Policy

Du↔Sie Formalizer does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The extension operates entirely within your browser and communicates only with the Anthropic API to perform text conversion when you explicitly request it.

What data does the extension access?

• Text you select or type — The German text you choose to convert is sent to the Anthropic API solely for processing. No text is stored, logged, or retained by the extension.
• Anthropic API key — Stored locally in your browser's chrome.storage.local. It is never sent anywhere except to the Anthropic API as part of a conversion request.
• Conversion history — The last 10 conversions (input and output text) are saved locally in chrome.storage.local so you can restore them. This data never leaves your browser. You can clear it at any time with the "Clear History" button.
• Preferences — Your selected mode (Du→Sie or Sie→Du) and tone intensity are saved locally in chrome.storage.local.

What data is sent to external servers?

The only external server the extension contacts is https://api.anthropic.com, and only when you click "Convert" or use the context menu. The request contains:

• Your Anthropic API key (required to authenticate the request)
• The text you want converted
• Your chosen mode and intensity settings

No other data is included. No analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics are sent anywhere.

What data is collected by the developer?

None. The developer does not receive any data from users of this extension. There are no analytics services, no tracking scripts, no cookies, and no third-party integrations beyond the Anthropic API call described above.

Data retention and deletion

• Your API key and preferences remain in chrome.storage.local until you remove them via the extension's settings panel or uninstall the extension.
• Conversion history can be deleted at any time with the "Clear History" button.
• Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data from your browser.

Third-party data processing

Text you convert is processed by Anthropic (api.anthropic.com). Anthropic's privacy policy applies to the data you send to their API. Please refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle API requests.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the new version will be published at this URL. The extension version number in the manifest will also be incremented to reflect the change.
