Privacy Policy

Bookmark Cleaner — Chrome Extension

Effective: 3 June 2026
✓ No data collection ✓ No network requests ✓ No analytics ✓ No third-party sharing

Bookmark Cleaner does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. The extension operates entirely on your device and never communicates with any remote server. There are no analytics trackers, no advertising networks, and no third-party services.

What data does the extension access?

"bookmarks"

The extension reads your Chrome bookmark tree in order to display counts, scan for duplicates, detect broken links, sort folders, and power the search feature. When you explicitly choose to delete or move a bookmark (via button clicks), the extension calls the Chrome bookmarks API to carry out that action. No bookmark data is ever read, copied, or transmitted off your device.

"storage"

Used exclusively to save your preferred theme (dark or light mode). This is a single key-value pair stored in Chrome's local storage area. No personal data, browsing history, or bookmark content is stored.

Data collection & sharing

Data retention & removal

The only data stored by the extension is your theme preference (a single boolean). This is kept in Chrome's local storage and removed automatically when you uninstall the extension. No other data is retained between sessions or at any other time.

Children's privacy

The extension does not collect any data from any user, including children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data through this extension, please contact us — though no such data collection mechanism exists in the extension.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be revised. Since the extension has no remote update channel, the policy is distributed with the extension itself. The current version is always visible at the Chrome Web Store listing and in the extension's source repository.

Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy or the extension's data practices, please open an issue on the project's repository or contact the developer through the Chrome Web Store developer support channel.
