For the Audio Recorder Android application.
Last updated: 2026-08-09
In short: your recordings stay on your device. This app has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics, and it never uploads your audio anywhere.
This application is developed by Hasan B. & Levent B. ("we", "us"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at .
We do not collect any personal information. We operate no servers that receive your data, and this version of the app contains no analytics, advertising or crash reporting libraries. See Advertising below for what changes if that ever does.
Everything the app creates is stored locally on your device:
Uninstalling the app removes its database and settings. Recordings saved to the shared Recordings folder remain on your device unless you delete them.
| Microphone | Required to record audio. Used only while you are recording. |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To show the recording and playback controls while the app runs in the background. |
| Approximate location | Optional. The location tagging setting is on by default, so the app asks for this permission the first time you record; if you decline it, or turn the setting off in Settings, no location is ever requested. Only a place name is kept, on your device — but working it out involves Google's services, described in Location tagging below. |
| Phone state | Optional, requested only if you enable pausing or stopping when a call arrives. It is used solely to detect that a call is in progress. We do not read your phone number, contacts or call history. |
| Bluetooth | Optional, to record from a connected Bluetooth microphone. |
| Network access | Used only by the Wi-Fi file server described below. The app makes no other network connections. |
| Storage / media audio | To save recordings where your other apps can see them, and to read them back for playback and editing. |
| Biometrics | Optional, used only if you turn on the app lock. The check is performed by Android; the app receives only a pass or fail result and never your fingerprint or face data. |
| Wake lock | To keep recording reliably while the screen is off. |
The location tagging setting is on by default, so the app asks for location permission the first time you record. Declining that prompt, or turning the setting off in Settings, stops any location being requested at all. While it is on, the app records an approximate place name at the start and end of each recording. Two steps are involved, and you should know that neither is purely on-device:
Only the resulting text — a city and country, or a US state — is kept, in the app's local database. Latitude and longitude are never stored, and nothing about your location is sent to us. What Google does with what it receives is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
The app takes part in Android's standard backup system, which is a feature of your device and your Google account rather than a service of ours. If you have backup enabled in your Android settings, Android may copy your app settings and preferences to your Google account, and will copy them during a device-to-device transfer.
Several things are deliberately kept out of it:
Whatever is backed up goes to your own Google account, not to us; we cannot see it. Android backups are encrypted and, on recent versions, protected by your device's PIN or passcode.
The app includes an optional server that lets you download your recordings from a web browser on the same local network. It is off by default and runs only while you switch it on. It is protected by a randomly generated username and password, and it is reachable only from your local network — it does not expose anything to the internet, and nothing is sent to us or to any third party.
As with any local network service, only enable it on networks you trust.
This version of the app contains no advertising. It ships with no ad
network active, it does not request the Android advertising ID, and the released
build does not declare the AD_ID permission.
A future version is expected to introduce a banner advertisement supplied by Google AdMob. When that happens the app will request the Android advertising ID and share it with Google in order to deliver ads and to detect invalid traffic, and people in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent before any personalised advertising is shown. This policy and the Google Play Data safety declaration will both be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top of this page will change to match. Nothing about your recordings changes: audio never leaves your device either way.
We do not share, sell or transfer your information, because we do not receive it. When you use the share function, your recording is passed to whichever app you choose, and that app's own privacy policy then applies to it.
The app is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect it from children.
Recordings are written to your device's storage and are protected by your device's own security. The optional app lock adds a PIN or biometric check on top. PINs are salted and hashed with PBKDF2 and kept in encrypted storage.
You are in control of everything the app stores: delete individual recordings from the list, turn off location tagging at any time, remove your PIN in settings, or uninstall the app to remove its data. Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for you to request from us.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and publish the revised version here.
